I started this post by writing, “I don’t feel like celebrating the America I know today” but I’m realizing that’s not entirely true. Because these days I know two America’s. I know one that’s easy to remember, the one that is full of hate and fear and is harmful, even lethal, to so many. But I know another America these days too, one that is emerging and letting larger and louder every day. One that is a collective of humans gathering together to fight for the safety, wellbeing, and freedom of all. In the last two years, I have seen more people become involved, actively unlearning and unwinding their own inherent bias and intolerance, using their privilege to protect and lift up those who are oppressed. More people willing to show up to protests, put their bodies on the line, vote and take action against this tyranny. This whole week there has been a mantra whispering in the back of my mind.
