Class Planning: Garudasana

One of my favorite poses is Garudasana, named after the king of the birds. Eagle represents new beginnings, and clear sight. This pose reminds me that every moment is a new opportunity, another chance to feel and breathe with awareness and patience, and to see myself and others as the already whole, strong human beings that we are. This poses asks us to be focused, to enjoy the subtle play of movement in stillness. It asks us to hug in, to call upon the power of our legs so that the rest of us can soften. We move inwards, into the pulsing playful balls of energy we are, so that we can shine out and share this energy with all those we meet.
